Prior to the start of the 2010 season, Christian Ponder for heisman campaigns were all over the place. There was much hype for this guy, who in 2009, was on pace for a heck of a season statistically until he got hurt against Clemson. This year, however, his numbers are down. Here's some comparisons:
Last year: (9 games prior to injury)
227 completions
2717 passing yards
68.8% completion percentage
14 touchdowns
7 interceptions
147.70 passer rating
This year (Projected for 12 game season)
189 completions
2035 passing yards
60.4% completion percentage
21 touchdowns
12 interceptions
129.29 passer rating
As you can see from the stats above, despite being projected to play 3 more games than last year, Ponder is still projected to finish with less completions and passing yards this year. His completion percentage and passer rating are also below where they were at last year. If Ponder can get over injury in return to his form from last season, this team is in for a great season.
